Student Support Services

Maria Regina High School's robust Student Support Services Team is comprised of licensed counseling, education and health professionals whose goal is to meet the varied individual needs of our student population.

For the purposes of providing continuity of support for your daughter’s academic career at Maria Regina, this comprehensive school counseling model will provide students with the same counselor throughout her time at Maria Regina. This new and improved program will be led by Mrs. Dukarm, who has over a decade of experience as a school counselor and administrator, in her new role as Assistant Principal of Student Life & Counseling. Mrs. Dukarm’s years of counseling experience have proven an invaluable asset as Dean of Students and will continue to enhance her leadership role as Assistant Principal.

The Counseling Department will be staffed by our three NYS certified school counselors:

  • Ms. Weis:  Students last name A-F
  • Mrs. Papitto:  Students last name G - M
  • Mrs. Zarychta-Bianco: Students last name N-Z
Under this new structure, our school counselors are best equipped to guide students from their first day at MRHS, through their academic journey, onto the college application & decision-making process and ultimately graduation from Maria Regina, and enrollment in one of the many prestigious colleges and universities our Tigers go on to attend.  In addition, we are able to add additional College Fairs, provide College Visit trips and other events, support, and information that will only enhance our already strong college application, and decision-making programs.

The counselor assigned to your daughter will have a thorough knowledge of her background and strengths, allowing the counselor to be your daughter’s best advocate through graduation.

Our Social Worker, Ms. Santos, will continue to advocate for the emotional, mental and psychological well-being of all students, connecting families with additional resources and providing intensive support when needed.

Our Nurse Shelly Yapchanyk will continue provide health-related services to our students, promoting  the overall wellbeing of all the members of our school community.

Dr. Adolphus, along with other staff members from Catapult Learning, will continue to provide additional academic support to all students with diverse learning needs.
